Starting Salary Range: $77,615 (Class II, Step 6) - $107,156 (VII, Step 10) Annually for an 11-month contract

WHO WE'RE SEEKING: Cuyamaca College seeks academic professionals who are dedicated to equitable student success outcomes for all students...

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Dean, Student Engagement and Belonging, this position will provide individual and group counseling to students addressing mental and emotional health concerns. This role supports psychological well-being through direct services, including crisis intervention, risk assessment, consultation with faculty/staff, and participation in wellness initiatives. Common concerns addressed include depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, low self-esteem, academic stress, and grief.

Counselors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, or career development; OR
Bachelor's in any of the above and a license as a Marriage, Family, and Child Counselor; OR
The equivalent.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience in individual and/or group counseling, particularly crisis intervention.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload, including high-risk clients and urgent psychological needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, gender, racial, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic, disability, and high-trauma backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience providing mental health training, teaching, presentations, and workshops.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to use technology in providing counseling services such as electronic medical records and virtual platforms.
  • Experience working in a collegiate mental health setting.
  • Experience collaborating with community mental health organizations and/or providers.
  • An understanding of the interconnectedness of socio-economic, cultural, environmental, and personal factors contributing to both the achievement of as well as barriers to success for and students who have experienced foster care, formerly incarcerated/justice impacted, LGBTQ+, and English language learners, as well as other marginalized student groups.
  • A current California license or registration as a Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Clinical Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) preferred.
