Director I, Admissions

Provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations of the Admissions Office, fostering a collaborative, innovative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.

Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate admissions staff, ensuring continuous professional development, coaching, and implementation of best practices.

Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of comprehensive recruitment and enrollment strategies to achieve institutional enrollment goals across all student populations, including first-time, transfer, adult, readmitted, international, and special population students.

Direct the planning and execution of on-campus and off-campus recruitment initiatives and represent the College at recruitment and community outreach events.

Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with high schools, school districts, community organizations, workforce development agencies, and other external stakeholders to strengthen recruitment pipelines and increase awareness of the College.

Oversee enrollment communications for prospective, applicant, admitted, and enrolled students in collaboration with Marketing and other campus partners.

Analyze admissions and enrollment data, monitor trends and outcomes, and recommend data-informed strategies to improve recruitment effectiveness and enrollment results; provide regular enrollment reports and annual goal achievement assessments.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional admissions policies and regulations; develop and maintain admissions policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Provide leadership for admissions technology systems, including the CRM and related recruitment and application processing tools, while promoting continuous process improvement and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with academic departments, Financial Aid, Advising, Transfer Services, Workforce Development, and other campus partners to support enrollment growth, student success, and effective enrollment processes.

Provide leadership and supervision for Orientation and First-Year Experience programs to support successful student transition and retention.

Develop and manage the Admissions Office budget and resources to maximize operational effectiveness and support enrollment objectives.

Communicate admissions initiatives, outcomes, and opportunities for collaboration with campus stakeholders through regular institutional updates.

Maintain active engagement in professional organizations, SUNY initiatives, and professional development activities to advance innovative enrollment management practices and leadership development.

Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

• Earned a master's degree, or higher, in higher education, business, communication, or a related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in admissions and three years' experience or more as Associate/Assistant Director of Admissions (or higher)
• Demonstrated success in hiring, supervising, coaching, mentoring, and evaluating staff to achieve individual and departmental performance goals.
• Proven ability to meet and exceed quantitative and qualitative enrollment and recruitment objectives through strategic planning and execution.
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and assessing data-informed recruitment and enrollment strategies that drive measurable results.
• Commitment to recruiting, enrolling, and supporting students from diverse, underserved, and underrepresented populations.
• Expertise in admissions technology, CRM strategy, and student information systems, including system integration, communication workflows, and process optimization.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data, evaluate business processes, and ensure compliance with admissions policies, regulations, and operational standards.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve enrollment and student success goals.
• Evidence of cultural competency, inclusivity, and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the professionalism to effectively represent the College in a variety of settings.
• Knowledge of and commitment to NACAC Principles of Good Practice and ethical enrollment management standards.
• Understanding of student development theory and its application to onboarding, Orientation, First-Year Experience, and student transition initiatives.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as Director of Admissions.
• Experience with Banner or similar Student Information System.
• Current working knowledge of SLATE CRM or similar and integration with Student Information Systems.
• Community college experience.
• Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.

Additional Information:

Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $93,000 to $106,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.

This position involves primarily sedentary work, including prolonged periods of computer use and keyboarding. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. The position may involve occasionally lifting or moving items up to 10 pounds. Work is performed in a typical office environment with no adverse conditions. Occasional travel between campus buildings or to other local or out-of-town locations for meetings or conferences may be required.
