Phenomics Australia, a founding member of the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), connects leading research facilities across Australia to accelerate discovery in precision medicine. We are seeking a National Research Data Specialist to help shape and implement the digital infrastructure supporting Australia’s preclinical and translational research communities.
About the role
You will work at the intersection of research and technology – translating the needs of scientists, data custodians, and IT professionals into robust digital systems and platforms. Your work will drive adoption of FAIR data principles, improve interoperability across national research initiatives, and ensure high standards of scientific data management and integrity.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with researchers and data specialists to define user requirements and guide digital strategy implementation.
- Lead workshops and stakeholder engagements to map business processes and identify opportunities for optimisation.
- Support the harmonisation of data standards, metadata schemas, and persistent identifiers.
- Provide expert advice on data governance, management, and integration to enhance national research capabilities.
About you
You are passionate about the role of data in advancing science. You combine technical literacy with strong communication and analytical skills, and enjoy bringing clarity to complex systems.
You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in molecular biology, genomics, data science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven expertise in data management principles, information systems, and data environments.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with experience facilitating collaborative projects.
