Network Systems Engineer (Network and Communications Analyst I)
Position Summary
San Diego State University is looking for a collaborative and technically skilled Network Systems Engineer to support the university's network infrastructure and modernization initiatives. In this role, you'll assist with the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of wired and wireless network systems while contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects that support teaching, research, and campus operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Infrastructure & Operations
- Configure, install, maintain, and support wired and wireless network infrastructure and related systems.
- Assist with network refresh initiatives, wireless access point deployments, and infrastructure upgrades across campus.
- Infrastructure Engineering & Project Support
- Contribute to the deployment of campus-wide network infrastructure projects, including wireless and network migration initiatives.
- Network Monitoring & Technical Support
- Monitor network performance, identify issues, and support resolution efforts to maintain operational continuity.
- Systems Integration & Optimization
- Support integration and maintenance of network management and monitoring platforms, including wireless management and infrastructure systems.
Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated duration of six months and one day from the start date, with the possibility of reappointment. Position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is eligible for telecommuting up to 1 day per week, following a training period during which on-site presence is required.
