"Neurologist - Behavioral/Cognitive, Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Neurology, Behavioral/Cognitive"

The Department of Neurology at Stony Brook University seeks faculty candidates with cognitive neurology training to join a multidisciplinary team for patients with cognitive disorders. Research interests are encouraged but not required. The position is tenure-eligible at assistant or associate professor level. Faculty lead centers in Neuromuscular Medicine, Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, and Movement Disorders, with ancillary services including MRI/PET, EEG, EMG/NCV, and infusion therapy.

The Cognitive Neurology Group will manage new patient referrals and long-term care, collaborating with Geriatric Psychiatry in the Stony Brook Center of Excellence for Alzheimer's Disease (CEAD). This state-funded initiative provides comprehensive services for Alzheimer's and other dementias, supported by research infrastructure including a PET core.

Responsibilities include: establishing an outpatient practice for Cognitive Neurology patients, participating in General Neurology inpatient and consult services with limited call, supervising residents and students, supporting community engagement, and expanding outpatient efforts on Long Island's east end.

Stony Brook University Hospital is a 624-bed tertiary care facility with a Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level IV Epilepsy Center, Neurological Critical Care Unit, and Level I trauma center.

Required Qualifications: MD degree (or foreign equivalent), New York State licensure eligibility, completion of an accredited Neurology residency, Board Certified/Eligible in Neurology, and a Behavioral/Cognitive Neurology fellowship.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a high-volume Neurology outpatient practice and comfort with general neurology inpatient and consult services.
