"Night Custodian"

Job Summary

This position performs custodial work required for the cleaning and upkeep of buildings in accordance with the standards of the Night Custodial team, and ensures that completed work is of a high quality to maintain a clean and healthy learning and working environment for all members of the campus community. The hours for this position are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am.

Salary Range

$17.00. This is the expected hourly rate for this position.

Essential Functions

• Performs daily custodial duties as assigned including, but not limited to trash collection and removal; cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing restrooms; cleaning floors, stairs, and carpets; dusting; replacing light bulbs; cleaning windows and other glass surfaces; shoveling snow and de-icing building entrances.
• Ability to learn to use janitorial equipment including automatic scrubber, high-speed buffer, carpet extractor, upright vacuum, and low-speed floor scrubber.
• Ability to move large and heavy objects either alone or with a coworker.
• Maintains adequate stock of custodial supplies in assigned custodial closets.
• Inspects equipment and informs supervisor of any issues.
• Assists in setting up or taking down the set-up for special events as directed. This may include moving and removing chairs, tables, and stages.
• Demonstrates proper ladder safety.

Minimum Qualifications

• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to work well independently and in a team.
• Basic knowledge of custodial equipment and supplies including their proper usage.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (temperatures varying from below 32 degrees to over 90 degrees) for periods of over one hour, subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, etc., and involves heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly in order to move objects. Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift 50 pounds. Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
