Noncredit Art Instructor, Older Adults, Part-time Adjunct Pool
Basic Function
Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. The starting salary range is $67.00/per LHE.
Representative Duties
The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of art courses. This assignment may include teaching at off-campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distant learning and multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include participation in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Visual and Performing Arts department; maintaining subject matter currency; developing and revising curriculum; using computer and multimedia technology; collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline-specific professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught, and either (A) Thirty hours or two semester units of course work or class work in understanding the needs of the older adult or (B) One year of professional experience working with older adults OR Associate degree with a major related to the subject of the course taught; and two years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; and sixty hours or four semester units of coursework or classwork in understanding the needs of the older adult. OR The equivalent. A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
