Noncredit Instructor/Trainer, Advance Aircraft Engine Mechanic Course - Cape Cod Community College

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Our instructors/trainers are experienced educators with in-depth knowledge in their subject matter field, deeply committed to providing exceptional student support and exhibiting strong organizational and communication skills. CCAPE's clients/students trust our instructors/trainers with sensitive information, and our instructors/trainers have the highest level of integrity in all interactions, including respecting client organizational cultures and climates. Our training programs and course opportunities are contract-based and/or subject to enrollment.

This Instructor/Trainer position will lead and teach a customized Advanced Aircraft Engine Mechanic's Course for a private company who is a client of the Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE) at Cape Cod Community College. This position involves providing classroom and laboratory instruction onsite at the client location. The course is a total of 96 instruction hours and will consist of 24 4-hour onsite sessions, located north of Boston (2 sessions per week). Expected course start date is July 2026 (length of program approximately 12-16 weeks).

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  1. Develop and deliver engaging classroom and hands-on instructional materials aligned with industry best practices and emerging aviation technology, including a customized Advanced Aircraft Engine Mechanic Course tailored to CCAPE employer client needs.
  2. Develop, prepare, and update course materials (presentations, handouts, instructional resources) to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with client objectives.
  3. Integrate aviation technology and alternative instructional delivery methods, including hybrid, online, and simulation-based learning.
  4. Provide effective classroom and laboratory instruction in a workplace-based training environment.
  5. Demonstrate strong classroom management and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused learning environment.
  6. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse adult learners.
  7. Read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams for complex aircraft engine systems.
  8. Utilize Microsoft Office tools to create instructional materials and track student performance.
  9. Monitor and maintain compliance with program standards and client expectations.
  10. Travel to and deliver training at the employer client site.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certification.
  2. Three (3) years of aviation maintenance experience with advanced aircraft engine systems and diagnostics.
  3. Proficiency troubleshooting complex mechanical and technical aircraft engine issues.
  4. Knowledge of instructional theory and hands-on technical education practices.
  5. Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse adult learners in a workplace training environment.
  6. Proficiency using multimedia and audiovisual instructional tools.
  7. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  8. Effective decision-making and problem-solving in instructional and technical settings.
  9. Ability to manage competing priorities and flexible scheduling.
  10. Commitment to student success and inclusive learning environments.
  11. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with aviation technology and industry standards.
  12. Unrestricted authorization to work lawfully in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Associate degree or higher in aviation or a closely related field.
  2. Experience delivering customized workforce training solutions with industry partners.
  3. Prior teaching experience in corporate or employer-based training environments.
  4. Active participation in industry conferences, certifications, or advanced technical training.
  5. Understanding of postsecondary technical education and workforce development partnerships.

Additional Information

COMPENSATION: $75 per hour for instruction (dependent upon qualifications, teaching experience and field experience). An additional (one-time) $1,600 stipend is available for curriculum preparation, updates, and required staff and client meetings. Part-time, up to 18 hours per week, non-benefited, non-unit position.
