Medical Education Program Specialist - Carbondale (4770)
Assist and provide support to the Medical Education Program Coordinator (MEPC) in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of all phases in Physician Assistant (PA) Program curriculum; staff support for the and Unit Coordinators; assist in writing and editing curricular materials; and assist in the coordination of curricular activities. Primary responsibilities include support for the general curriculum, standardized patient program, and the PA Student Progress Committee (SPC).
This position is ON SITE only.
Medical Education Support for PA Program Curriculum: 100%
- Assist faculty and the MEPC with the coordination, development and delivery of curriculum documents, resources, and materials, including, but not limited to, calendars, tutor group lists, student and faculty schedules, and tutor guides-15%
- Assists with data collection of curriculum and program evaluations, tracking of incomplete student grades and graded exams by faculty. Compiles tutor group assessments. -10%
- Assists with facilitating and the oversight of the Standardized Patient Program, including SP recruitment, orientation, training, clinical sessions, and completion of the Extra Help (SP) hiring paperwork. -10%
- Assists with student sequestration, timed exams and end of unit oral exams and write-ups. Proctors end-of-unit exams, end-of-rotation exams, and assists with all evaluation activities. -10%
- Assist in collection, compilation and organization of information for recurring reports or surveys. -10%
- Assist MEPC in organizing medical education activities. Prepares, develops, and/or maintains activity schedules. -10%
- Assist MEPC in uploading examinations into D2L or current curriculum platform; setting parameters and delivering examinations. -10%
- Backup to the MEPC for D2L (or current curriculum platform) & Dropbox sharing for curriculum. -10%
- Maintains confidential student records and files, grades, progress letters and supporting documentation. - 5%
- Backup to the MEPC for scheduling of classrooms utilized by the PA Program and the School of Medicine. -5%
- Coordinates and participates in the orientation for PA program participants, along with Admissions. -2%
- Attends faculty and program meetings and serves as back-up to the MEPC as the Student Progress Committee recorder. -1%
- Collect student assignments &/or proctor exams in the absence of faculty. -1%
- Performs other related duties, as assigned. -1%
Credentials to be Verified by Placement Officer
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months), from the categories below:
- College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- Progressively more responsible clerical or secretarial experience, including a background in electronic word processing and database management systems.
- College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
Please Note: Completion of the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education Programs Certification (TAGME) from the National Board for Certification of Training Administrators qualifies applicants for each level of this series.
