Office Manager

The Department of Chemistry is seeking a proactive and highly organised Office Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of office administration, reception services, and departmental events. This key role will oversee the running of the departmental office and front-of-house function, ensuring a professional, responsive service for staff, students, and visitors. The post-holder will line manage the Office & Events Coordinator and reception team, supporting them to deliver efficient administrative and reception services across the Department.

The role will also oversee the coordination and delivery of departmental events including seminars, workshops and social events, working closely with academic and professional services colleagues to ensure events are delivered to a high professional standard.

You will be an experienced administrator with strong organisational, communication, and people management skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment. Experience of coordinating events and improving administrative processes would be advantageous.

The role is primarily site-based within the Department of Chemistry, with occasional evening or weekend working required to support events.
