The Department of Radiology and Imaging in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible faculty member at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, as a Radiologist. Duties will include teaching medical students, supervising residents, mentoring fellows and providing clinical care to patients. Applicants should be competent in all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology. Experience in interventional neuroradiology procedures (e.g. epidural injections, biopsies, vertebral augmentation) is a plus but is not required. Academic time is provided, and new research projects are encouraged. Our hospital is a regional referral center for trauma, oncology, neuro oncology, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, spine surgery, epilepsy, dementia care, and organ transplantation. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Clinical / Patient Care - 20%
Interpret a wide range of neuroimaging studies
Provide advanced imaging consultation and collaboration with neurosurgery, neurology, neuro-oncology, head & neck surgery, spine surgery, epilepsy service, etc.
Perform or assist in neuroradiology-related procedures
Participate in emergent neuroradiology work: e.g. stroke imaging, trauma, acute neurovascular imaging.
Teaching & Education - 20%
Supervising/responsible for teaching residents and fellows in neuroradiology: overseeing their interpretation, guiding procedural training, mentoring.
Deliver didactic lectures, case conferences, journal clubs in neuroradiology topics.
Participate in multidisciplinary conferences where neuroradiology input is needed.
Research / Scholarly Activity - 20%
Initiate or participate in research projects in advanced imaging, imaging techniques, neurovascular disease, brain tumor imaging, imaging biomarkers, etc.
Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at national meetings.
Seek external or internal funding/grants to support neuroradiology research.
Service / Administrative - 20%
Participate in quality assurance and imaging protocol development specific to neuroimaging: ensure image quality, safety, workflow and turnaround times
Peer review of neuroradiology interpretations; second reads; oversight of fellows/residents' reports.
Possibly help plan or maintain the imaging facilities used in neuroimaging; ensure the department has access to up-to-date technology.
Other Duties - 20%
On-call coverage / weekend/emergent reading in neuroimaging
Participation in continuing medical education so as to stay current with neuroradiology techniques & standards.
Required Qualifications
MD, DO, or equivalent. Fellowship training in Neuroradiology. Board-certification/eligibility by the American Board of Radiology. Active license to practice in the state of Georgia or meet all eligibility requirements.
Instructor- A medical professional in training who holds a medical degree and has completed residency training who will contribute to teaching, student support, and the clinical mission of the institution.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Instructor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
