The Department of Radiology and Imaging at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University, Georgia's premier health sciences university, is recruiting a full-time faculty member at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, as a Chest/Thoracic Radiologist. This is a great opportunity to join a department in the midst of expansion, including growing our Georgia Cancer Center and breaking ground on our 2nd hospital site (in Columbia County). The successful candidate will have an interest in teaching medical students as well as radiology residents. Responsibilities will include clinical service and teaching, with opportunities for clinical research as well, in a busy tertiary and quaternary care center with ACGME accredited residency programs. Academic time is provided, and new research projects are encouraged. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Clinical Service -
- Interpret thoracic imaging studies, including chest radiographs, CT, and MRI scans
- Collaborate with pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, oncologists, and other specialties in multidisciplinary care settings
Teaching and Education -
- Provide didactic and case-based teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows
- Participate in departmental educational conferences and journal clubs
- Mentor trainees in clinical practice and research
Research and Scholarly Activity -
- Engage in clinical or translational research within thoracic imaging
- Contribute to publications, presentations, and grant activity as appropriate
- Support departmental research initiatives and collaborative studies
Administrative and Academic Responsibilities -
- Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and departmental quality improvement efforts
- Assist in developing and updating clinical protocols and educational materials
- Contribute to the strategic goals of the department and institution
Professional Development and Service -
- Maintain board certification and licensure
- Engage in continuing medical education (CME) activities
- Represent the department at local, regional, or national radiology meetings and societies
Required Qualifications
MD, DO or equivalent from a appropriately accredited institution.
Instructor- A medical professional in training who holds a medical degree and has completed residency training who will contribute to teaching, student support, and the clinical mission of the institution.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Instructor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
