Position overview:
The School of Respiratory Care Sciences in the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University invites applications for a 9-month open rank/clinical track position to begin August 15, 2026. Responsibilities include developing a lab and maintaining an active research program, teaching (to be negotiated with School Director), mentoring student research, and service to the school, college, and university to advance the School mission and vision.
Current program strengths and faculty interests include behavioral sleep medicine, obstructive sleep apnea, neurodegenerative diseases, and big data analysis. There are excellent opportunities for hospital affiliations within the Boise-metro area, including St. Luke's and St. Alphonsus Health Systems.
School overview:
The School of Respiratory Care Sciences offers three programs accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). At the undergraduate level, the school is home to an Entry-Level BSRC Program that qualifies students for the credential-earning examinations of the National Board for Respiratory Care. The school also offers an online RRT to Bachelor of Science Degree Advancement Program (DAP) for RRTs who have earned an Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution. At the graduate level, the school offers an online MSRC Degree Program for RRTs who hold a valid credential and a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. The School of Respiratory Care is one of seven schools in the College of Health Sciences that also includes the Schools of Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, Allied Health Science, Medical Imaging and Radiologic Sciences, and Public & Population Health.

Minimum qualifications:
- A Doctoral degree or M.D./DO with expertise in a field closely aligned with Respiratory Care (e.g., cardiopulmonary biology, physiology, neuroscience, sleep medicine)
- Evidence of potential to establish a program of research and secure extramural funding
- Demonstrated teaching excellence
Preferred qualifications:
- Program of research in translational science
- Experience with securing extramural research funding
- Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate student research
- Holds valid Registered Respiratory Therapist credential
- Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist or other clinical specialty in the State of Idaho, or has the ability to acquire licensure in Idaho
- Successful completion of at least one (1) NBRC specialty credentialing examination

Salary and Benefits:
Salary starting at $70,000 and commensurate with experience.
