Brief Summary of Work for this Position:

Watson College of Education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for a 9-month Clinical/practice track, non-tenured faculty position in the department of ITFSE or EEMLS with a teaching load of one course per semester as a P-12 School-University Partnership Director. This position is a 9-month clinical/practice track faculty position with an additional expectation of 3 months supplemental pay for year-round director responsibilities.

The P-12 School-University Partnership (SUP) Director coordinates the overall P-12 partnership and professional development offerings consistent with the goals and guiding principles of the UNCW Watson College of Education Office of Partnerships & Engagement and the nine essential standards of the National Association for School-University Partnerships.

The Director serves as a faculty member at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, or Associate with teaching responsibilities in an academic unit and serves as a liaison between the UNCW Watson College of Education and 11 school district partnerships, two public charter school partnerships, and the DC Virgo Preparatory Academy laboratory school.

Additionally, the Director oversees the operations of the Professional Experiences Office and our school-university partnership with Isaac Bear Early College High School. Clinical track faculty are eligible for promotion to higher clinical track ranks. Appointment to a rank is dependent on qualifications relative to university and college standards. A summary of work includes:

• Teaches a minimum of one course per semester

• Ensures effective and timely communications among partnership teachers, SUP administrators, and appropriate personnel in the Watson College of Education

• Oversees duties of the SUP (School-University Partnership) Office, Professional Experiences team, and Isaac Bear Early College Liaison, and currently serves as the Regional Director for the NC New Teacher Support Program

• Plans and coordinates appropriate events, professional development activities, university seminars, and courses for personnel involved with our teacher and administrator preparation programs

• Manages SUP budget and seeks additional resources, including external grant funding, to support the goals of the SUP

• Convenes necessary committees and participates in local, regional, state, and national meetings and other efforts to advance the work of SUP

• Collaborates with colleagues in Assessment & Accreditation to evaluate the work of SUP

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• Master's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university at time of application

• Combination of 5 or more years of P-12 public school teaching and/or leadership experience

• Experience in clinical/professional practice related to P-12 educator preparation

• Experience hosting university field and internship students in educator preparation programs

• Experience in budget management

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Experience working both independently and collaboratively in a leadership role alongside university faculty and staff, as well as P-12 district and school-based leaders and educators

• Experience in college-level course instruction

• Experience in grant writing or management

• Experience with state and/or national partnerships and/or organizations

• Knowledge of organizational, operational, and structural functions of P-12 schools and universities

Required Certifications or Licensure:

• National Board Certification

• Holds a current NC Teaching License at time of application and maintains NC Teaching License

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Office of Partnerships & Engagement in the Watson College of Education at UNCW engages partnership, outreach, and collaborative activities with schools, industry, and community organizations. OPE consists of five units: P-12 School-University Partnerships, STEM Education and Engagement, the Community College Collaborative, MarineQuest and the Betty Holden Stike Education Laboratory.

The Watson College of Education (WCE) (www.uncw.edu/ed) is a rapidly growing college with over 65 tenure-track faculty members working in undergraduate and master's programs in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education and the Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education, and master's and doctoral programs in the Department of Educational Leadership.
