Job Summary:

This position includes direct clinical care, teaching, supervision, and program development duties, with a focus on providing integrated behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and their families who are seen in the Pediatric Solid Organ Transplant Program at an academic medical center. This integrated psychologist role will join a robust transplant psychology team that serves patients and families on the multidisciplinary kidney, liver, and heart transplant teams. The candidate will demonstrate expertise in the use of evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches in the Pediatric Transplant Program.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical: Psychological Assessment, Intervention, and Consultation:

  • Utilize a consultation-based model to provide integrated behavioral health services (health and behavior interventions and assessments; pre-transplant evaluations) in the Pediatric Solid Organ Transplant Program.
  • Provide integrated behavioral health services across medical ambulatory and multidisciplinary clinics, hospital inpatient medical settings, and in a variety of additional hospital settings for solid organ transplant candidates and recipients.
  • Use evidence-based assessment and treatment approaches for children, adolescents, and families seen in the solid organ transplant program with a wide range of behavioral, developmental, and mental health concerns.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Liaison with interdisciplinary team providers across the transplant teams and medical units to coordinate and ensure optimal comprehensive care.
  • Develop and present case summaries and participate in case discussions related to pre-transplant evaluations during transplant selection committee meetings.

Teaching/Training:

  • Supervise, teach, and mentor psychology trainees and consult with other mental health/medical providers and staff.
  • Develop educational activities for interprofessional providers and staff on the Transplant service.

Research and Scholarship:

  • Lead and participate in scholarship and research endeavors, including collaboration on grants and contracts with multidisciplinary transplant teams and hospital and community partners.
  • Engage in development of clinical practice protocols through quality improvement and program development.

Program Development:

  • Engage in developing, implementing, and evaluating transplant psychology programming.
  • Develop metrics and QI plans for the Transplant service in conjunction with psychologists on the Transplant service and multidisciplinary team members.

Service:

  • Engage in service opportunities in the Transplant Program as well as Psychiatry Department, hospital, and local/regional/national organizations via serving on committees, task forces, and/or workgroups.

Work Location: Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor, Sr. Instructor, Assistant Professor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited psychology program; completion of an APA-accredited internship program; and completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology.
  • Must have prior experience in a pediatric health/medical psychology setting serving children and adolescents.

Associate Professor:

  • 4-7 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited psychology program; completion of an APA-accredited internship program; and completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology.
  • Must have prior experience in a pediatric health psychology setting serving children and adolescents.

Professor:

  • 7+ years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited psychology program; completion of an APA-accredited internship program; and completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology.
  • Must have prior experience in a pediatric health psychology setting serving children and adolescents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-doctoral fellowship focused on pediatric health psychology, consultation-liaison services and/or integrated behavioral health care in acute specialty settings such as Transplant, CL, medical trauma, or other complex inpatient units.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations with medical complexity. Training and experience providing consultation, trauma informed care, health and behavior assessment and interventions, and/or pre-transplant evaluations in inpatient medical and ambulatory medical multidisciplinary specialty care settings.
  • Those with specific experience working in solid organ transplant are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of developmentally and diagnostically appropriate screening and assessment tools.
  • Demonstrated skills using evidence-based treatment models including but not limited to motivational interviewing strategies, consultation models, and flexible application of cognitive-behavioral therapies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team model and with surgeons, psychosocial providers, trainees, and colleagues.
  • Preference will be given to those who have experience in and are eager to lead and collaborate on research, quality improvement, and program development initiatives in specialty medical settings.
  • Experience and skill in consulting with professional colleagues and staff.
  • Commitment to multiculturalism and experience with diverse populations.
  • Ability to deliver services in Spanish.
  • Experience working in and supervising in an APA accredited pediatric health psychology training program.
  • Demonstrated contributions, commitment, and/or experience in teaching, clinical, research, and/or service to the field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Clinical skill is required for conducting brief and targeted evidence-based assessments and consultations in integrated care settings.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team and with colleagues, medical specialists, and trainees across a wide array of clinical settings.
  • Knowledge of research and quality improvement methodology, as well as ability to independently conduct research and quality improvement projects.
  • Ability to engage and lead in program development to further clinical and quality programming.
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including clinical information-sharing, training and supervision, and providing presentations/education to community and professional audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
  • Experience developing, training, and supervising psychology trainees.

Anticipated Pay Range:

HIRING RANGE:

  • Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor: $105,000 to $120,000
  • Associate Professor: $130,000 to $145,000
  • Professor: $175,000 to $205,000
