Optometrist

OPTOMETRIST, MIT Health, provides evidence-based eye care to ensure a patient's health and well-being by recommending and prescribing medications and other treatment options using evidence-based care guidelines; delivering routine vision care; educating patients and staff on eye health, including contact lens care, disease state management, and safety factors. This role recommends appropriate patient follow-up; consulting with other health professionals to prepare and coordinate patient care plans in accordance with optometry scope of practice per state board. This role provides patients with appropriate referrals, as needed, to ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals, following up with patient and other health professionals regarding any outstanding diagnostics, tests, or other patient information as needed.

REQUIRED: Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry college with a minimum of two years of work experience in a clinical setting providing comprehensive eye care that includes significant experience in the fitting of contact lens; valid MA license and MCSR; current card in Basic Life Support (BLS); and ability to communicate clear and concise information to patient and staff. PREFERRED: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and residency training.
