Job Summary

Arapahoe Community College is seeking a full-time Paralegal Faculty member to join its School of Math and Science, offering a unique opportunity to inspire and prepare students for one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving fields in the legal profession. This role combines instructional excellence with curriculum development, professional service, and community engagement, all within a supportive and equity-focused academic environment. The faculty member will perform instructional duties and related activities in accordance with the philosophies and procedures of Arapahoe Community College and the policies of the Colorado Community College System.

ACC faculty members are responsible for teaching 30 credit hours annually (generally 15 credits each fall and spring semester). Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery (e.g. hybrid, online, or accelerated); some weekend/evening teaching may be required. Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; student learning assessment duties; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, school, and College meetings and functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and demonstrated knowledge of the utilization of paralegals to include experience working with or as a paralegal; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field, and Paralegal certificate with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Paralegal coursework and demonstrated knowledge of the utilization of paralegals to include experience working with or as a paralegal. Tested experience may be used in lieu of the degree requirement on a case-by-case basis.
  • Have or qualify for a postsecondary CTE credential including 4,000 hours of non-teaching occupational hours (2,000 if at bachelor's or higher) within the past 7 years.
  • Experience teaching and/or training in various subjects within the discipline.
  • Demonstrated commitment working with and supporting students from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, historically marginalized communities such as people of color, LGBTQ+ community members, veterans, first generation graduates, and people with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset regarding professional development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a form that is appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Juris Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • License to practice law in Colorado
  • Five or more years' experience in the practice of law
  • Teaching/training experience in Legal Research and Writing.
  • Experience with Legal Technology applications required in practicing Law (examples: billings, case management office management, e-filing, and e-discovery)
  • Experience in facilitating equitable outcomes for customers, key stakeholders, or students using effective inclusive strategies.
  • Demonstrate building successful professional relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external constituents and outside agencies.
  • Participate and/or lead in professional organizations, committees and/or taskforces.
  • Experience with remote and/or online teaching/training and experience developing courses for multiple delivery formats.
  • Ability to develop well-defined assessment/evaluation objectives and high-performance standards aligned with expectations

Additional Information

Salary Information: The projected start date for this position is August 2026. The salary range for this position is $61,940 to $77,239, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August to May). Salary will be pro-rated based on actual contract days worked. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. [AP 3-55] provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments.
