Recruitment Range: $37,161 - $40,000 The salary range advertised is the designated recruitment range for this classification. Final salary offers will be determined by the candidate’s education, relevant experience, internal equity alignment, and departmental budgetary parameters.

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The mission of the Department of Auxiliary Services is to provide quality goods and services to the University at a fair and reasonable price. These services are designed to support the educational mission of the University and enhance the efforts of members of the University community. The Parking and Transportation Program is a fee-for-service program that has a major impact on visitor impressions of the university and a significant impact on student, faculty, and staff impressions of the workplace as a friendly, pleasant environment and an indirect impact on their productivity.
The Program must be customer-focused. The Program must seek ways to park cars while minimizing the visual impact efficiently; handle special events in the most efficient manner; reduce traffic on campus; allocate parking fairly; and enforce parking regulations fairly.
The Parking and Transportation Program administers all phases of parking operations, including special event parking; permit registration and distribution; parking allocations to user groups; visitor parking; mobile payment operations; enforcement, petitions, and appeals; and recording/collections of fees and fines. The Parking and Transportation Program encourages and plans for transportation alternatives to single occupancy vehicles with carpooling incentives, shuttle services, and an infrastructure supportive of pedestrians and cyclists.
The Parking and Transportation Program provides the data and impact analysis to be used in planning physical plant improvements, such as surface lots, parking decks, sidewalks, bike racks, and bike lanes and paths.
Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
The Parking Enforcement Officer performs as an ambassador to the university community, answering general questions, providing directions, and representing the university in a professional and courteous manner in support of campus operations. This position can be physically demanding, requiring handling of immobilization devices, working on gates/barricades, and/or physically cleaning and/or repainting parking facilities. The Parking Enforcement Officer must be able to work as a team member and maintain confidentiality and discretion while conducting business. This position may require shift, weekend, and/or event/overtime work, and may work in all types of weather.
Responsibilities include:
- Enforcing parking rules and regulations fairly and consistently.
- Operating and maintaining parking enforcement equipment, facilities, smartphones, two-way radios, computers, tablets, software, and other advanced technology such as license plate recognition.
- Patrolling as a team on foot, electric/motor vehicle, and by micro mobility.
- Assisting transportation operations, events, space counts, visitor booth operation, inventory, etc.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalency and demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Prior experience in a campus environment.
- 1 year of experience in a parking enforcement or closely related field.
- Experience staffing events and visitor parking facilities.
- Knowledge of parking and traffic regulations, related state laws, and university and department procedures.
- Experience handling immobilization devices, smartphones, computers, tablets, two-way radios, license plate recognition, motor vehicles/micro mobility.
- Customer service skills, including making sound decisions under stressful situations, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Excellent skills and experience working as a team.
- Experience with T2 software; maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical components of parking facilities, technology, hardware, gate access equipment, etc.
Required Certifications or Licensures:
Valid NC Drivers License
