Parking Enforcement
Under general supervision, the Parking Enforcement Officer ensures compliance with University parking regulations by issuing warnings and citations and immobilizing (booting) or towing vehicles parked in violation. The position provides consistent and professional enforcement in accordance with university parking policies and procedures, maintains awareness of campus events that may affect parking operations, and delivers courteous customer service to the campus community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrols campus parking lots and garages to monitor and enforce parking regulations.
- Issues warnings and citations; immobilizes (boots) and tows vehicles in violation.
- Exercises sound judgment and discretion when determining enforcement actions.
- Provides professional customer service to all motorists; responds to questions, complaints, and confrontations; explains parking policies; and directs individuals to appropriate offices for assistance.
- Assists in troubleshooting parking equipment; reports maintenance needs; supports citation data uploads and downloads to student and payroll systems.
- Coordinates with the supervisor to identify repeat violators, signage issues, and areas needing improved enforcement.
- Assists with parking lot and garage closures and posts signage for events or restricted access.
- Reports improper parking signage, emergencies, hazards, or unusual incidents on or around university property.
- May serve as a member of the emergency essential personnel team within Facilities Management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to operate parking enforcement software and equipment.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
- Ability to remain alert, focused, and exercise sound judgment in enforcement decisions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and during university closures or special events.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by one (1) year of related experience.
Work Schedule
Work hours vary based on departmental and campus needs, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
Hourly Position: $16.88 per hour
