Department Summary:

The Department of Geography offers four major concentrations and coordinates three minor programs. Geography majors may choose from a BS major concentration in Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience or in Environmental Planning and Conservation, or a BA major concentration in Global Sustainable Systems. The department also offers a BA major designed for double major students in Elementary Education. The department offers a minor in Geography and coordinates two interdisciplinary minor programs: Geographic Information Systems and Urban Studies and Planning. Department faculty are focused on delivering programs that help students build understanding about how humans intersect with the natural world. Geography majors learn a broad range of skills and knowledge applicable in a broad range of career opportunities.

Essential Duties:

The Department of Geography at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates for the Spring 2026 semester. Courses may include Introduction to Physical Geography lecture and lab, Human Geography and Physical Geography.

Applicants should possess:

• Enthusiasm for teaching and dedication to working with undergraduates.
• Sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
• Skill in using technology effectively in teaching and learning.
• Ability to teach in-person, on campus.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in Geography or closely related discipline is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience at the university level preferred.

PhD in Geography or closely related field preferred.

This posting is for potential part-time, non-benefited, day program faculty positions in the Geography Department. The current salary rate for a typical 3 credit lecture course taught by a new part-time faculty member in the day program is $4,005.00, paid through bi-weekly payroll direct deposit. Rates may vary for other course types based on contact hour equivalencies.
