Job Summary
Teach applied violin lessons and recruit a studio of music and music education majors with violin as principal instrument; service to the department as needed.
Responsibilities
Teach applied violin and recruit a studio of Music and Music Education majors with violin as the principal instrument.
Teach regularly in at least one area of the greater Music and/or Music Education curricula in addition to applied lessons.
Actively participate in the recruitment of students to the Music and Music Education majors. Fulfill periodic departmental duties (e.g., service on jury and recital grading committees).
Required Qualifications
An earned master's degree in Music
Successful applied violin teaching experience
Ability to teach applied lessons and recruit a studio
At least one of the qualifications listed below under "Preferred Qualifications."
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to teach courses in the musicianship core (music theory, aural skills, etc.)
Ability to teach other courses integral to the Music and/or Music Education majors (e.g., Elementary Methods, Instrumental Methods I and II, String Methods)
Ability to teach courses in an interdisciplinary departmental concentration in audio production/music business
Successful K-12 teaching experience
