The University of Texas at San Antonio, Alvarez College of Business invites applications for the position of Lecturer in the Marketing Department.

College of Business

The Carlos Alvarez College of Business, founded in 1969 and renamed in 2021, is fully accredited by AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (business and accounting).

The Alvarez College of Business (ACOB) boasts six departments that collectively administer 13 undergraduate programs, 6 graduate programs, 4 PhD programs, 4 certificate programs, and 2 executive education programs. The college supports its students with 115 full-time faculty and maintains a robust student population with a total enrollment of 5,200 students across all academic levels. The undergraduate program forms the largest segment with 4,377 students, while the graduate programs host 761 students, and the doctoral programs include 30 students.

The Alvarez College of Business has established itself as a significant research institution, earning notable rankings across multiple disciplines. According to the BYU Accounting Research Rankings, the college has consistently ranked among the nation's Top 100 for overall research activity—both over the past 12 years and in the cumulative rankings from 1990 through 2022. The college excels in accounting information systems, ranking in the Top 5 nationally for AIS Archival Research, and placing in the Top 15 for Audit Archival Research. In the UT Dallas Research Rankings, the college demonstrates strong performance across various fields, ranking No. 46 in North America and No. 66 globally for Marketing Research, while achieving No. 48 in North America and No. 68 globally for Information Systems Research (2022-2023). The college also maintains respectable positions in Management Research (No. 83) and Operations Research (No. 92) in North America, showcasing its broad research capabilities across multiple business disciplines.

Department of Marketing

The Department of Marketing in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio consists of 20 tenure/tenure track and fixed-term-track faculty members and offers undergraduate degrees in marketing and a doctoral degree in marketing. Our faculty and students have been recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally for excellence in both research and teaching.

Job Type: Part-Time

Salary: $5,000 per course.

Position Summary

The Alvarez College of Business, Department of Marketing is seeking to identify qualified applicants to fill a vacancy for the upcoming academic semester (Fall 2026) for a part-time lecturer. Topics may include Principles of Marketing, International Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Capstone. The specific hiring needs vary each semester. Instructors are expected to ensure key learning objectives identified by the department chair and course coordinator are met through classroom instruction and instructional materials.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in business administration or marketing and five years of teaching and/or relevant work experience in one or more of the areas of specialization including marketing, sales, or other related field.
  • Position may require in-campus teaching depending on teaching needs.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
