Part-Time Specialist III, Maverick Assistance Center (MAC)
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Under general supervision, the MAC specialist will welcome and assist new and current students with all basic processes in enrollment services. This triage service is included but not limited to: Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Disability Services, TRAC Center, International, Testing Center, Veterans' Affairs. The MAC specialist will also provide campus tours to prospective students and community members. This position will support enrollment management campaigns including emailing and calling current and prospective students. Overall, the position is an important first point of contact for students to navigate the Lone Star College-Montgomery campus.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Welcomes and assists new and current students with admissions and registration processes in a fast-paced environment with a high level of customer service
- Identifies and explains all iStar service indicators (application status codes) to students and guides them on the process to address questions/issues if needed
- Conducts group and individual campus tours for prospective students, new students, and campus visitors
- Provides complex information to students in terms of explaining degree/program types and options that LSC offers as well as disseminates information to students about all of the available services on campus
- Expends knowledge-base by cross-training with the Maverick Call Center, continuously increasing ability to provide detailed information to students needing assistance
- Assists students with the basic financial aid processes, including but not limited to scholarships and completion of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- Participates in calling-campaigns and other student outreach initiatives to inform and gather information for prospective and current students as needed
- Ensures updated information from all departments in enrollment services to support a streamlined student process
- Assists students with completing the new student checklist
- Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to gain and retain extensive details regarding policies, procedures, and programs
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- High level of comfort with technology
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as classrooms, offices, meeting and training rooms, etc. This requires use of safe work practices with office equipment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree
Salary
Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60
