Position Highlights

The Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (AzVLD), with the University of Arizona, seeks a part-time Pathologist. This position is intended to bolster our Clinical Pathologist roster. The appointed pathologist will be responsible for performing cytology examinations across all species. This is an on-site position that involves direct consultation with colleagues, interpretation and documentation of test results, and adherence to established turnaround times to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic services.

The AzVDL is committed to excellence in diagnostic service, animal disease surveillance, being an active member of a laboratory network safeguarding against Foreign and Emerging Animal Disease and providing expertise to the veterinary community of Arizona.

In 2002 the AzVDL was one of the first laboratories to be approved as a Participant Laboratory of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) to conduct testing in support of APHIS and the National Veterinary Service Laboratory. We continue to embrace being a part of this valuable contribution as our part of Institutional Excellence.

This position is a 100% on-site, in-person role requiring regular attendance at the designated work location.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The position may involve the examination and diagnosis of both histology and cytology slides. The selected pathologist will provide expert interpretation of specimens and serve as a subject matter expert (SME), offering consultative support and information to clients as needed.

  • Consultation with CVM/AzVDL colleagues and administrative issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required. In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, DVM and Board Certification eligibility in pathology required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an accredited veterinary diagnostic laboratory
  • DVM from an AVMA recognized school or college of veterinary medicine and American College of Veterinary Pathologists certification in anatomic pathology or clinical pathology
  • Ten years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Compensation

Rate of Pay: $48.03 - $62.44 (hourly rate)

The Rate of Pay Field represents the University of Arizona's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
