Description
Under the direction of the assigned manager, assist in maintaining, setting up and securing assigned athletic facilities; assist in storing, issuing, receiving and maintaining assigned athletic equipment; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Set up various athletic equipment for physical education classes and sporting events including tables, chairs, bleachers and scoreboards; make minor repairs to equipment as needed.
Knowledge of:
- Equipment, materials and supplies used in college physical education classes and athletic programs.
- Storage, inventory and minor equipment and uniform repair methods.
- Methods, materials and tools used in the maintenance of athletic equipment.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.
- Methods and techniques of laundering uniforms and towels.
- Methods and techniques of setting up athletic facilities for practices and competition.
- Methods and techniques of cleaning and sterilization.
- Computer software applications (Microsoft Word and Excel); website editing and publishing procedures.
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.
Ability to:
- Maintain, issue and make repairs to physical education and athletic equipment.
- Set up required equipment for assigned athletic events and physical education classes.
- Preserve, clean and disinfect athletic equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and files and prepare required reports.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Work a flexible schedule and overtime as required.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Pass the annual California Community Colleges Athletic Association (CCCAA) rules exam with a score of 80% or higher.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees and others encountered in the course of work.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, linguistic, and ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students and staff as demonstrated by skills and abilities in cultural responsiveness and cultural humility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Six months experience in equipment handling and record keeping in a sports program.
Other Certifications, Licenses, or Special Requirements:
- A valid Class "C" California Driver's License is required by the time of appointment.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid first aid/CPR certificate within 30 days of appointment.

Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing, and walking; work may involve lifting and carrying items of moderate to heavy weights. Work may involve climbing, reaching, bending, and stooping on an occasional to frequent basis. The incumbents are required to operate a vehicle to drive to varying locations.
Work Environment:
Work takes place within indoor and outdoor environments, including gymnasiums, arenas, and athletic fields.
Hazards:
Exposure to varying weather conditions and heavy traffic conditions. Work may involve interactions with people who are upset, angry, argumentative, and hostile.
