The Division of Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals is recruiting a leader for our sarcoma program. The appointment will be made at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank in the Adjunct, Clinical X, HS Clinical, or In Residence faculty series, commensurate with the candidate's experience.

The successful candidate will join a leading academic medical center with an established fellowship training program. This position may include clinical responsibilities at both the San Francisco and Oakland campuses and will actively contribute to our mission of excellence in research, education, and patient care.

The UCSF Pediatric Sarcoma Program is a large, well-established multidisciplinary program with strong collaboration across pediatric oncology, adult sarcoma oncology, orthopedic surgery and radiation oncology. The program is closely integrated with UCSF's early phase clinical research infrastructure. We welcome applications from individuals with interests and expertise in sarcoma clinical/translational research who will help advance innovative therapies and expand clinical trial opportunities for children and young adults with sarcomas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Leadership: Serve as a clinical and academic leader within the Pediatric Sarcoma Program, contributing to the ongoing development and advancement of the program.
  • Clinical Care: Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to pediatric and young adult patients with sarcomas across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Clinical/Translational Research: Lead and participate in clinical and translational research initiatives, with a focus on early-phase and investigator-initiated clinical trials.
  • Therapeutic Development: Contribute to the development and execution of clinical trials involving novel and investigational agents for sarcomas.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with adult sarcoma programs, orthopedic oncology, radiation oncology, and other subspecialties to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.
  • Education and Mentorship: Participate in the teaching and mentorship of fellows, residents, and medical students within the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Program Development: Support the continued growth and innovation of the Pediatric Sarcoma Program in alignment with divisional and institutional priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical degree and eligibility for medical licensure in the State of California
  • Board eligibility or certification in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in pediatric oncology, including care of patients with solid tumors (e.g., sarcomas)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board eligibility or certification in Pediatrics
  • Experience in clinical trial design and execution, particularly early-phase or investigator-initiated trials
  • Experience bringing investigational therapies to pediatric and/or young adult patients
  • Demonstrated expertise in the care of patients with sarcomas
  • A national or emerging reputation in clinical and/or translational sarcoma research
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • Prior experience contributing to program development in an academic setting
  • A strong interest in a career in academic pediatrics
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage across diverse forums

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $131,200-$344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
