Pediatric Urologist - Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery SMS-3745
This is an academic position in the practice and teaching of urology to medical students, residents, and allied health professionals with direct responsibilities to the Chief of the Division of Urology and to the Chair of the Department of Surgery. This individual will be hired with the emphasis on the area of pediatric urology.
I. Teaching 15%
- Participate in the development and implementation of specific undergraduate curricula in urology.
- Participate directly in urology residency training.
- Participate in continuing education programs in urology for both the clinical faculty and for practicing physicians in the area.
- Provide a role model for students and residents as a teacher and practicing urologist.
- Actively participate in all teaching activities including student and resident core curricula and conferences, teaching in clinic, wards and operating room, skills lab instruction and journal clubs.
II. Research 15%
- Actively engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the Division.
- Provide a role model for students and residents as an investigator.
- Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research.
III. Service 70%
- Set an example to future practitioners of highly skilled and conscientious practice of urology that is balanced with self-education and other academic activities.
- Assist in the coordination of multiple disciplinary clinics for the care of pediatric urology patients.
- Maintain a clinical practice in urology in order to enhance clinical proficiency.
- Participate in peer review for assessing clinical practice skills for faculty within the Division.
- Represent the Division in regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field of urology.
- Attend national meetings and symposia in urology and related fields for the purpose of contribution, acquisition of additional knowledge, and as an example to other physicians.
- Serve on committees in national, regional, and state societies pertaining to pediatric urology.
- Represent the Division and/or Department on committees as requested by the Division and Department Chairs.
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Urology Surgery.
- MD licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Pediatric Urology Fellowship
