About the office

Student Success is a national office that directly supports student achievement, retention and progression through Learning Support, Career Development and Scholarships. This position sits within the Student Engagement and Success portfolio as part of Student Success, alongside Student Life and Student Wellbeing.

About the role

The Peer Learning Officer supports the delivery of Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) and Student Success programs. The position works with the Peer Learning Lead to recruit, train, and support PASS Facilitators, and helps deliver and evaluate peer learning programs that improve student engagement, retention, and academic success. The position reports to the Peer Learning Lead.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Peer Learning and Student Success programs.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and supporting PASS Facilitators.
  • Help create and update training materials and resources.
  • Work with internal teams to align learning support services.
  • Collect and report data on student engagement and outcomes.
  • Assist with events, facilitator development, and promotions.
  • Help monitor PASS program operations and attendance.
  • Support on-campus program delivery.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Degree qualification or relevant tertiary study with related work experience.
  • Understanding of peer learning and student success/retention strategies.
  • Ability to guide and support student Peer Learning Facilitators.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work respectfully in diverse environments.
