Duties & Responsibilities:
At VCU's School of Social Work, we commit to preparing professional social workers who engage our communities, initiate difficult dialogues and confront today's social inequities.
Typical Duties
This full-time position is supported by grants from the Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration and Bureau of Justice Assistance. The peer support specialist will be an individual with lived behavioral health service utilization experience plus experience with providing peer support and care management services.
Fulfill project requirements & other duties as assigned.
Salary: $55,000 - $58,000
Remote Eligibility: hybrid
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires experience as a peer support worker and consumer of behavioral health services
- Knowledge of local service system, criminal justice system, community resources, and benefits required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Competitive applicants will have experience with providing peer support and care management services to individuals living with behavioral health disorders and current or past involvement with the criminal justice system
Salary Range: $55,000 - $58,000
