People Administrator
University of Gloucestershire - People Function
1 Full-time (37 hours per week) Permanent role (does require full time hours due to volume and capacity for role)
We are looking for an organised, proactive and detail-focused People Administrator to join our People Function at the University of Gloucestershire.
This is a varied People administration role offering exposure across the employee lifecycle, including HR Help queries (and our HR Inbox), contract changes, absence and leave administration, payroll liaison, reporting and policy administration. Working as part of a small team of two reporting to a People Partner, you will help provide a high-quality, inclusive and responsive People Administration service to colleagues across the University.
You will work closely with People Partners, People Advisors, Payroll, Operations, Talent and Data colleagues to help ensure our staff receive an efficient and positive People service.
Who we are looking for

You may already have some experience in HR, recruitment, payroll, administration, customer service, student services or another busy support function. What matters most is that you are organised, accurate, confident using systems, able to handle sensitive information appropriately and committed to providing a professional and inclusive service.
This could be a great opportunity for someone who wants to build their experience in a People/HR environment and develop a broad understanding of how a People Function supports colleagues across an organisation.
What you’ll do
In this role, you will:
- provide a professional, inclusive and responsive People administration service.
- maintain accurate records on HR/payroll systems and electronic files.
- manage and respond to HR Help service queries, escalating more complex matters where appropriate.
- support monthly contract changes, absence, leave, family leave, casework and annual leave administration.
- support DBS checks and right to work administration.
- work collaboratively with Payroll and People colleagues to support an effective HR and payroll administration service.
- assist with recruitment-related administration when required.
- help maintain staff policies, procedures, guidance and HR web pages.
- support regular reporting on People metrics.
- contribute to wider People Function activity linked to belonging, wellbeing and engagement.
