Department Summary

The mission of The Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center) is to support UCLA students in the successful attainment of their educational goals through the personalized delivery of accessible, high-quality health and wellness services, rendered with kindness and competence, by diligent, dedicated professionals. Our comprehensive services include Primary Care, Gynecology Services, Immunizations, Travel Medicine, Physical Therapy, Specialty Clinics, Radiology & Laboratory, and Acupuncture - all under one roof! We are also pleased to offer additional services in the Ackerman Student Union: a full-service optometry center, U See LA Optometry, and the Bruin Health Pharmacy. UCLA's student health center and its suite of services consistently rank as best in the nation. Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Manager of the Bruin Health Pharmacy at the Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center and their designee (e.g. staff pharmacist), the Pharmacy Technician II shall perform the functions of pharmacy technician and shall be responsible for assisting the pharmacists in the core functions and duties and perform other pharmacy functions as listed below. A Pharmacy Technician 2 is not authorized to perform any act requiring the exercise of professional judgment by a pharmacist.

UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years Specialty and/or retail pharmacy experience. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of over-the-counter (OTC), pharmaceutical names, abbreviations, and medical and insurance terminologies. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulations relating to the practice of pharmacy. (Required)
  • Ability to receive constructive criticism and guidance with equanimity and engage in discussions with supervisor regarding performance in a professional manner. (Required)
  • Ability to handle high volume of customer interactions and other work tasks. (Required)
  • Proficient technical skills in personal computers and composing emails, messages and other documents that are clear, concise with use of proper syntax and grammar. (Required)
  • Skill in interacting diplomatically to establish rapport and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, students, administrators and personnel in other departments. (Required)
  • Skill in working independently to organize and prioritize job tasks with minimal direction to optimize efficiency. (Required)
  • Ability in maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with University, state and federal guidelines including HIPAA and FERPA regulations, and handling sensitive medical issues tactfully. (Required)
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (Required)
  • Skill in effectively interacting with students and staff from diverse cultural, ethnic/racial, social and sexual orientations. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
  • California Pharmacy Technician License (in good standing) (Required)
  • Certified Technician by examination PTCB. (Preferred)

Special Conditions for Employment

  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
  • TB Test: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory TB test.
  • CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
