"PhD Candidate in Ancient Environmental Genomics"

As a PhD candidate, you will assist in the analysis of ancient environmental DNA in the newly formed Ancient Environmental Genomics group. The PhD candidate will be integrated into the Vienna Doctoral School of Ecology and Evolution or Cognition, Behaviour and Neuroscience. The focus of our research is environmental DNA from ancient natural and human influenced environments. We particularly value team members who are able to critically evaluate their data and the validity of their results.

Your future tasks: You will actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of ancient DNA and environmental genomics. You analyze real and simulated ancient DNA datasets, from both humans and domestic animals. We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months. You work on your dissertation and its completion. You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your profile: Completed Master's degree in the field of Biology or Bioinformatics. Experience in academic writing and with population genetics research methods. Excellent command of written and spoken English. IT user skills: e.g. linux, R, admixtools. Desirable knowledge: experience in the history of human populations and their interaction with domestic animals. You should be a team player with high social skills.
