Research Position: Impact Identification and Structural Integrity of Ship Structures
Job Description
Impact identification on ship hulls is crucial for operational safety, performance, and longevity. The hull must withstand harsh conditions and collisions. This project involves developing monitoring systems using guided waves to identify and characterize impact events on ship structures.
Job Requirements
The candidate should have fundamental knowledge of maritime structures, familiarity with fiber-reinforced composite materials, competence in measuring and analyzing guided waves, experience in impact localization and characterization, strong mathematical skills, and proficiency in programming such as Matlab or Python. A MSc or equivalent in Maritime/Offshore engineering is required, along with excellent English skills and a minimum TOEFL score of 100 or IELTS of 7.0.

Conditions of Employment
The contract duration is 18 months, full-time (36-40 hours per week), with a salary between €3546 and €5538 gross per month based on a 38-hour workweek, plus holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, pension scheme, flexible working options, and leave hours.
