PhD Position on Mathematical Foundations for Explainable AI
Join the Korteweg-de Vries Institute for Mathematics at the University of Amsterdam for a PhD position in mathematical machine learning, focusing on mathematical foundations for explainable AI. - Conducting research on mathematical machine learning theory.

- Participating in seminars, collaborations, and the PhD training program.
- Assisting in teaching and supervising students.
- Completing and defending a PhD thesis within four years.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in mathematics, AI, or computer science with a strong mathematical component.
- Strong interest in mathematical machine learning and explainable AI.
- Excellent programming skills in Python or similar.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
What is offered:
- A 4-year contract (initially 18 months) for 38 hours per week.
- Salary ranging from €2,901 to €3,707 gross per month.
- 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year allowance.
