"PhD Position: Speech Privacy in Multi-Speaker and Multi-Modal Scenarios"

We are seeking a PhD candidate for the joint doctoral training programme on Privacy for Smart Speech Technology (PSST), funded by the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action. You will receive a joint doctorate from Radboud University and the University of Lisbon.

As a PhD candidate, you will conduct research on AI techniques for analysing and protecting personal information in speech recordings. The project focuses on multi-speaker settings such as meetings or dialogues and multi-modal data, including text or video. It aims to identify revealing factors and find ways to detect and hide them using natural language processing and audio analysis.

The programme includes 25 months at Radboud University in Nijmegen, followed by 20 months at INESC-ID in Lisbon, and 3 months back at Radboud University. Your teaching load may be up to 10% of your working time.

Requirements: You have a Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related area. You have a background in speech processing, experience with empirical research in speech technology, and an understanding of data protection and privacy. Solid programming skills and excellent English are required. You must not have resided in the Netherlands for more than 12 months in the 36 months before recruitment.

Conditions of employment: A temporary contract of 1.5 years, extendable to 4 years. Starting salary of €3,059 gross per month, increasing to €3,881 in the fourth year, based on a 38-hour week. Additional benefits include holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, and flexible working arrangements.
