About the Project

In the laboratory of Biophysical Engineering, the Institute of Industrial Science, at the University of Tokyo, Japan, we have an open project for Master or PhD students.

Project description

Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) are chronic inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract that are challenging to treat. Biological therapies are the gold standard in the disease management, but they are costly and frequently ineffective. In this project, we will employ Antioxidant Nanozyme recently developed our collaborators and antimicrobial peptides that we study in our group to develop treatment for the inflammatory bowel diseases. We will characterize the function of the antioxidants in vitro and in vivo by different biochemistry assays including hyperspectral microscopy. Antimicrobial peptide will be combined with antioxidant to test the potential synergistic effects.
