PhD Student in Life Sciences
We are seeking a dedicated PhD student to participate in interventional human studies investigating the effects of specific collagen peptides on cognitive functions, functional joint health, osteoporosis, and their optimal dosage. You will work at the exciting interface between clinical data collection and sports and nutritional research in human studies.
Your future tasks:
- Organization and implementation of clinically controlled human studies to improve physical and cognitive performance in middle and old age
- Collection and documentation of physiological functional parameters and/or clinical-chemical parameters
- Contribution to or independent preparation of publications and scientific articles as well as giving presentations
- Conclusion of a doctoral thesis agreement and independent completion of a dissertation project
- Participation in and independent teaching of courses in accordance with collective agreement regulations and supervision of students
- Contribution to the organization of conferences, symposia, and workshops, as well as participation in departmental, teaching, and research administration
- You will be part of the Vienna Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (VDS PhaNuSpo) and we expect you to complete your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed Master's degree in Sport Science, Nutritional Science, Public Health, or a related field
- Strong interest in human studies and clinical-experimental research in the field of nutrition, training and health research
- Experience and interest in scientific work with human participants
- Excellent organizational skills and initiative
- High level of interest in learning new diagnostic methods in the field of physical and mental performance
- Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken (C1)
- Strong teamwork skills as well as high social and communication competence
- Resilience, sense of responsibility, and high motivation

- The collective agreement minimum wage for university assistants (prae doc) at the University of Vienna is currently €3,714.80 gross per month (based on full-time work, 40 hours) according to Section §48VwGr B1
