Position Summary
This position will be in clinic running their own patient schedule 4 days a week, with one day dedicated to complete administrative tasks. After a 6 month probation period, the admin day can be from home. The clinic runs 8a-4p, will need to be ready to see patients prior to 8a and may need to stay passed 4p depending on how the clinic flow goes. APPs see about 18-22 patients a clinic day. Surgical Oncology sees a mix of patients and this position will need to be able to see any of theses patients in their clinic. Breast (new and returns), endocrine(returns), and melanoma (returns). There are times where our APP will see post op patients, but this is not regularly scheduled with the APP. The clinic volume is typically 18-22 patients with a 1 hour lunch break to break the day up. Our clinic locations are at the Siteman Cancer Center at BJH in Central West End, and we will be starting to see patients in 2026 at MoBap.
Our APPs have dedicated team members who can help with scheduling follow ups and assist with patients in clinic. In 2026, we will have 4 full time breast surgeons, 2 full time endocrine/melanoma surgeons, and 1 part time endocrine surgeon. Our APPs will primarily see new breast patients who are not in need of surgical intervention, in addition to return breast, endocrine, and melanoma patients.
Day to day would be seeing patients in clinic (new, returns, and postoperative), documentation and notes through patient encounters, and following up on patients results.
Provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician; conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels patients; may, in some instances, prescribe medication.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs physical assessments/examinations.
- Assesses and counsels patients and obtains medical histories.
- Monitors patient's adherence to protocols.
- Coordinates screening for research studies.
- Collects and records data per research requirements and guidelines.
- Develops and implements adherence plans used with protocols.
- Bills for professional services as permitted by the collaborative practice agreement.
- Interprets diagnostic tests results for deviations from normal.
- Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory test.
- Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management.
- Provides physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops.
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

Required Qualifications:
- Current PA licensure to practice in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, or ability to obtain within 3 months of date of hire.
- Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range
$93,300.00 - $167,800.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
