The Division of Clinical Sciences at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine is recruiting neurology clinicians within the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience. We seek dynamic clinician-educators to support the inpatient and outpatient clinical practice in neurology within an academic setting. The successful candidate(s) will practice at UCR and/or UCR-affiliated clinical facilities in Riverside and surrounding areas, including UCR clinics, affiliated hospitals, and the UCR Multiple Sclerosis Program, designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a comprehensive multiple sclerosis care center.

Fellowship training in neuroimmunology/multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular neurology, epilepsy, or another subspecialty is preferred but not required. The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree and be eligible to practice in the State of California by the time of employment. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

A minimum of two years of practice post-residency training from an accredited program is required. Applicants must qualify for medical staff privileges at UCR Health and UCR-affiliated hospitals. The full salary range is $118,100 - $302,700 annually, based on education, licensure, certifications, experience, and other factors. These appointments are part-time, up to 50%.

Requirements:

  • Educational Requirements: Must possess an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree.
  • Experience Requirements: A minimum of two years of practice post-residency training; fellowship training is preferred.
  • License Requirements: Possession of legal requirements for practice in California, maintenance of California Medical License, and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) prescribing number.
  • Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and a valid certificate issued by the American Medical Specialty Board as a specialist in Neurology or related field.
  • Minimum Requirements: Qualify for medical staff privileges, be eligible to practice in California, work effectively with diverse populations, stay abreast of medical knowledge, work independently and collaboratively, and possess advanced communication and interpersonal skills with a strong background in clinical practice, teaching, and managed care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Specialty Patient Care (80%): Engage in direct patient care activities including assessment, evaluation, diagnostic determination, treatment, clinical management, referral, care planning, medications, risk assessment, discharge planning, communication with primary care physicians, team collaboration, and documentation for regulatory compliance. May instruct residents, interns, and students.
  • Communication (20%): Direct contact and consultation with patient family members and advocates to ensure effective communication of patient status and care plans, supporting an open environment.
