POSITION SUMMARY:

Temporary RVTV Government Meeting Operator appointments that may become available at Southern Oregon University on an as-needed, part-time, and limited-duration basis. The appointment varies in classification, salary, and length, and provides varying levels of operator support.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Video switching operator for Medford City Council and Jackson County Commissioner Meetings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Prior experience in media production and/or A/V services.

Preferred Requirements

  • Prior experience operating a video switcher and robotic cameras in a TV control room for LIVE government meetings.
  • Tricaster video switcher experience is ideal.

Essential Functions

Duties - The following examples of typical work activities are meant to illustrate the general range of work functions and are not meant to be all-inclusive or restrictive:

  • (95%) Work as the control room operator for government meetings, including City of Ashland, City of Medford, Jackson County, and City of Grants Pass meetings as directed.
  • (5%) Other duties as A/V production or media file transfer duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Ability to work with a high level of productivity and accuracy/attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to operate robotic PTZ cameras.
  • Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt to and work effectively in a heavily bureaucratic environment which requires regular interaction with a number of levels within the organization.
  • Working knowledge, or ability to quickly learn, university infrastructure, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Operation of a multi-camera video switching system under LIVE Television conditions, including graphics pre-production and LIVE integration.
  • Operation of multiple, robotic PTZ cameras.
