Position Description

This position is a fully funded postdoctoral research position for one year.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• 50%: The primary responsibility of this position will be to design, lead and conduct experiments based on research studies of the lab which includes research on muscle physiology, aging, and estrogen biology.
• 10%: Research and analyze literature related to research studies and present information as it relates to lab studies and make recommendations how literature findings can assist in the research studies, current or potential future studies.
• 10%: Analyze and interpret data compiled from the research experiments and recommend to PI the analytical outcomes and how the experimental results impact hypothesis or research objectives.
• 10%: Write manuscripts and give presentations as it relates to the research studies.
• 10%: Create grant proposals/applications as appropriate for career development as well as engage in other career advancement activities.
• 10%: Provide direction and supervision to others in the lab by instructing on techniques/processes/procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• PhD in Physiology or related
• Experience working in aging and immunofluorescence
• Ability to communicate research and conduct interdisciplinary research

Previous experience with:

• Research in areas of neuroprotection and aging
• Skills in immunofluorescence, microscopy, image processing, and large-scale -omics data analyses
• Mentoring junior trainees

About the Department

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 50 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range:

Expected annual stipend will be $62,232, adjusted for the next fiscal year, according to University and Medical School guidelines.
