MQ: Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. No experience is required.

Description: Post-doctoral associate position on Condensed Matter Theory (Quantum Many-body systems) to study new phases of interacting quantum systems primarily in equilibrium. Specifically, in the areas of strongly correlated systems, including the effects of interactions interfacing with non-trivial topology and topological phase transitions. These also include the effects of disorder in strongly correlated systems, the physics of High-Tc's and interactions in frustrated lattices and its connections with spin liquid phases.

The position is opened for a 1.5-year appointment, with six-month evaluations on performance and with the possible extension for an extra semester pending funding availability and mutual agreement of both parties.

Salaries are competitive and depend on the Postdoc’s previous experience.

Requirements

1. possess a PhD in Physics and a solid knowledge in the many-body formalism.

2. work closely with R. Mondaini and collaborate with other Department members.

3. have a strong background in programming and numerical skills in general with desirable experience in intensive and parallel computing (Fortran, C, C++, Python).

Applicants with a previous background in at least one of the following techniques,

• Quantum Monte Carlo (either DQMC, PQMC, DCA, SSE, etc.)

• DMRG

• Exact Diagonalization (with and without symmetries)

• Kernel Polynomial methods

have a major advantage.
