Post Doctoral Fellow - Department of Physics and Astronomy
A postdoctoral position is available in the Finzi-Dunlap lab to investigate transcription regulation / nucleic acid-protein interactions and condensates relevant to chromosomal organization and function. This is an opportunity to conduct interdisciplinary work on topological and phase delimited reactions that drive emergent biological and biochemical behavior.
About the Finzi-Dunlap group: We are experts in single molecule approaches which reveal fundamental details in the biophysics / biological physics of living systems. Some current areas of investigation are: (i) transcription and its regulation, (ii) DNA mechanics relevant to chromosome structure and function, (iii) molecular crowding and condensates. The lab is equipped with microscopes for tethered particle motion, atomic force, magnetic tweezing, and correlative (three color) fluorescence and optical tweezing (C-Trap) experiments.
Biophysics in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at CU is exceptionally and uniquely strong. We offer a broad range of synergistic biophysics research topics and approaches, an NSF-sponsored REU program in Biophysics, and run the Master and Ph.D. programs in Medical Biophysics which includes labs from several different departments and schools.
The University offers a rich environment of synergistic resources including: the Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovation Center, The Center for Human Genetics, the Advance Materials Innovation Complex, the South Carolina Translational Research Improving Musculoskeletal Health (SC-TRIMH), the Palmetto Computing Center, the Clemson Light Imaging facility, the Electron Microscopy facility, the AIRISE Institute and the Watt AI program. Clemson received a $20 M NSF investment to change health care using AI and Biomedical research is a fundamental pillar of the strategic plan of Clemson University, which is committed to building an AAU-aligned faculty to address societal needs, creating world class research infrastructure, and leveraging Innovation Campuses and partnerships.

Qualifications: Candidates with a PhD in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline who are eager to develop and drive interdisciplinary research projects incorporating single molecule approaches are encouraged to apply.
Application Instructions: Review of applications will begin immediately; however, the position will remain open until filled. Applicants should submit the following items via Interfolio at: https://apply.interfolio.com/167566 (1) CV (2) Statement of interest (3) Three confidential letters of reference For more information, please contact (Laura Finzi; lfinzi@clemson.edu).
