"Post-doctoral Fellow/Product Development Scientist (Ref.: H01/2025/093)"

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow (Ref.: H01/2025/093) for innovative technology and product development projects specifically in the field of Drug delivery. Candidate with more experience will be appointed as Product Development Scientist.

Job Description

• Develop and optimize novel lipid drug delivery vehicles for the encapsulation of different therapeutic cargos.
• Perform experiments to analyze lipid vesicle properties, optimize lipid formulation and assess delivery performance in vitro.
• Conduct experiments and analyze/interpret results from research projects independently, preparing comprehensive and reliable experimental records.
• Design and work with CDMO/CRO to execute pre-clinical studies to evaluate the safety and efficacy of novel lipid drug delivery vehicles.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team, engaging in regular communication to update on research progress, including presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in lipid drug delivery and pre-clinical research methodologies.
• Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor, Prof. David A. Weitz.

Requirements

• PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, biomedical sciences, chemistry, microbiology or related fields.
• Applicants with an MSc and additional experience in pre-clinical drug development will be considered.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), with excellent communication skills that are clear and concise.
• Strong academic credentials, innovative mindset, ability to work under pressure and independently, sense of responsibility, eagerness to learn, and effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Research experience in translation research/pre-clinical drug development.
• Research experience in academia/industry.

Desirable Experience

• Lipid chemistry, drug formulation principles, and analytical techniques.
• Drug development experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
• NGS library construction (pooling, QC) and NGS data analysis.
• Cell culture and aseptic technique experience.
• Molecular biology techniques including in vitro transcription, DNA cloning, bacterial transformation/protein expression.
