Applications are invited for appointments as Post-doctoral Fellow (several posts) in The James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality in Asia (SCoSEIA) under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref: 532892), to commence as soon as possible, on a one- to three-year temporary contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a PhD degree with a focus on research in Sociology, Economics, Social Work, Social Policy, Social Statistics, or a related discipline. They should have a strong background in robust and innovative social science research methods. Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese is essential, along with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Experience with advanced or mixed research methods is highly desirable. A proven publication record in peer-reviewed academic journals and success in securing research grants will be considered an advantage.

The appointee will contribute to research projects aligned with SCoSEIA’s core themes: Understanding the Nature of Income and Wealth Inequality and Wealth Creation (led by Professor Duoduo Xu), Exploring the Effects of Shocks and Policies on Income and Wealth Inequality (led by Professor Bingjing Li), Investigating the Networks and Behaviours of the Ultra-Rich (led by Professor Heng Chen), and Examining the Socio-Economic Impacts of Income and Wealth Inequality (led by Professor Paul Yip).

Key duties include conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses, preparing manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals, and presenting research findings at academic conferences. Fellows will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and assist with project management and ethics applications as needed.
