Offer Description
Activities: The task involves the translation into Portuguese of Hegel’s correspondence and investigating his relationship with the artistic universe of his time, specifically by the time of his lectures on aesthetics (Heidelberg and Berlin, 1817 to 1829). The primary material for analysis consists of letters from the philosopher’s final decade (1821–1831), course-related documents, and scholarly literature on the subject (Günther Nicolin, Johannes Hoffmeister, Karl Rosenkranz, and Klaus Vieweg). In sum, the candidate will contribute with an interpretive reading and a philologically informed translation.
Mandatory requirements: Doctoral degree obtained within the last seven years. Note: Candidates currently completing their doctorate may apply, provided they submit the report of the examining committee at the time of application. Background degree in Philosophy, with professional activity and research in the fields of German Idealism and Aesthetics. Language proficiency in both German and Portuguese. Prior experience in large-scale translation projects involving biographical and conceptual literature on Hegel. Work arrangement: Exclusive dedication to the research project, in accordance with FAPESP rules and guidelines.
Desirable requirements:The candidate is expected to be able to situate Hegel's philosophy according to its systematic, historical, and speculative articulation, with a special focus on the philosophy of art, insofar as it articulates art history, art criticism, and art theory. In this sense, it is important to relate Hegel to his time, the so-called Goethezeit.

The complete call can be found on the website of the USP Postdoctoral Program in Philosophy: https://filosofia.fflch.usp.br/posdoc.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality.
