Post Doctoral Scholar

The Post Doctoral Scholar will conduct research on conversational AI systems with an emphasis on methods for enhancing the reliability of provided information and for using synthetic data to adapt systems to users with varied characteristics. Research tasks will include designing and implementing software for testing novel algorithms and for conducting corpus-based experiments and experiments with human subjects. The Post Doctoral Scholar will be responsible for supervising research of graduate and undergraduate students and identifying and selecting problems to be studied in collaboration with PI and graduate students. Responsibilities also include performing experiments, collecting and analyzing data and preparing research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books, and other media; and preparing seminars, talks or lectures for dissemination of knowledge, particularly the results of research undertaken. This term position is available for one year.

Doctoral Degree in Linguistics or Computer Science by start date.

Four years of experience conducting and publishing research in recognized NLP venues such as those appearing in the ACL Anthology. Substantial experience working with leading deep learning frameworks for training and running language models along with using language models via APIs. Relevant experience gained as a student will count towards this requirement.
