Job Overview

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a Post Doc Fellow position, ideally beginning as soon as July 1st, 2026. The Fellow will work on mathematical modeling and computer simulation of circadian rhythm, analyze the dynamics of biological clock interconnected with other components, and work closely with scientists from different research fields.

The appointment is initially for one year and may be renewable up to 3 years. The postdoc will teach one course per semester in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at University of Cincinnati, and part of the duties includes active involvement in group meetings and seminars, and training graduate and undergraduate students.Any inquiries should be addressed to Prof. Sookkyung Lim (limsg@ucmail.uc.edu).

Essential Functions

  • Conduct research experiments in a particular field within the pre-determined research scope and methodology.
  • Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
  • Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
  • Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.
  • May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
  • Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
  • Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Minimum Requirements

The candidates must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Applied Mathematics focused on mathematical modeling of dynamical systems.

Experience with Mathematical/computational modeling of dynamical systems in biology, bifurcation analysis, and parameter analysis is desirable.

Doctoral Degree in the appropriate field or discipline, or the recognized terminal degree
