Postdoctoral Asst Professor - Fall 2026
The University of Michigan, Department of Mathematics, invites applications for Postdoctoral Assistant Professorships and D.J. Lewis Research Assistant Professorships, to begin August 25, 2026. These non-tenure-track positions may be renewed annually for up to three years, and are designed to provide mathematicians with favorable circumstances for academic career development in research and teaching. Assistant professorships have a teaching responsibility of two courses per semester; D.J. Lewis Research positions have reduced teaching loads. These positions may be combined with other postdoctoral fellowships and grant funding, giving additional reductions in teaching responsibility.
Ph.D. Preference is given to candidates who receive the Ph.D. degree in 2025 or later.
Salary is competitive and there are also opportunities for supplemental summer salary.
Please provide a placement dossier consisting of a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three to four letters of recommendation (one of which must address teaching). In all cases, please provide a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, evidence of teaching excellence, and a statement of current and future research plans.
