Description
The Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences (DFCAS) First-Year Experience (FYE) Unit at the University of Oklahoma (OU) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow. The First-Year Experience Unit was launched in 2021 to foster the spirit of excellence articulated in the "Lead On, University" Strategic Plan and the unit was retained in the Strategic Plan's next phase released in 2025.
The DFCAS FYE Unit provides 4 courses (Ethical and Intercultural Leadership, Gateway to the Sciences, Gateway to the Social Sciences, and Gateway to the Humanities) each term for all undergraduate majors. Our seminar and lab style courses are designed to engage interdisciplinary, first-year experience, faculty, staff, and student communities. Hence both quantitative and qualitative researchers are strongly encouraged to apply.
DFCAS FYE postdoctoral fellows will primarily conduct theoretically focused empirical studies of social influences on self and others. Contribute to basic research, mixed methods research, and multi-institutional research designs. Participate in scientific endeavors with on-site and remote research teams, collaborators, and human subject participants. Postdoctoral fellows will receive support for professional development and skills training to advance manuscript writing, data analyses, presentation acumen, and research models.
The primary mentor for the postdoctoral fellows is Adrienne R. Carter-Sowell, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. Dr. Carter-Sowell is a productive social scientist, a faculty member with tenure, and a well-established academic and lab director.
The desired start date of the position is as soon as possible and no later than August 11, 2025, and completion of the Ph.D. degree is required before the appointment starts. If hired, the applicant will be a member of the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences (DFCAS) First-Year Experience (FYE) Unit and Psychology Department and will be able to participate in group seminars, workshops, and informal knowledge sharing. Stipend and remote work options will be determined by budget availability and the qualifications of the selected candidate. The position comes with health benefits and access to OU resources for up to 2 years, renewed annually, according to results of annual performance evaluations.
